Eco Mosaic Climate Center
Advanced Architectural Design I
Fall 2023

From relationships on the complex plane, a climate center emerges. This complex derives its formal logic from Julia sets: fractals based on second degree functions on the complex numbers.
The organizational logic of the center relies on the inherent symmetry of fractal logic, creating spaces nested within spaces and exploring the direct and indirect symmetries of program.
Housing composting operations, a visitor center, a flexible climate forum, a flexible exhibition space, as well as seasonal gardens, the climate center attempts an ultimate goal of circularity. Whatever is taken should be given back.
Flexible spaces and connection are prioritized throughout the climate center.
The visitor’s center includes well-defined spaces for staff and workers, reception, and display of educational content. The climate forum and three seasons classroom support flexible seating to accommodate the different functions that may be required.
Renders and models observing directional light on the campus. In the model, light is explored through simple massing and then with systems of rails that will become window frames.
