Tests of Movement and Form
Twisting, bending, folding, and compressing can be applied to the architectonic and to the embodied. This assembly, sited in front of the Hungarian Pastry Shop in the Upper West Side, twists, bends, folds, compresses, and complicates the waiting line of customers. A peaceful Sunday afternoon is transformed as visitors' feelings of anticipation are transformed into ones of torment, exploring the impact of a formal intervention on a previously intelligible pattern of circulation.

Current flow (top) and new (bottom) in plan. Diagrams of observed anticipation and speed in the line followed by hypothesizing what will change with the new condition.
From analyzing movement in front of the pastry shop, combined with forms derived from a prototypical chair, the assembly challenges notions of iconicism, performance, and influence.
